Dear friends and supporters,
With heavy hearts, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Run for the Rescues 5K. Due to the current climate and the impact of the ongoing government shutdown, we know that many individuals and families are facing uncertainty — and this has understandably affected participation and planning for community events like ours.
We want to thank everyone who had already registered, volunteered, or spread the word in support of our mission. Your enthusiasm and compassion continue to inspire us.
While we won’t be gathering for the run this year, our work at the rescue continues — rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming horses and providing healing programs for veterans and individuals with special needs.

SHEW's Annual 5K Run for the Rescues - Benefitting Safe Haven Equine Warriors
Lace up your running shoes and join us for the Annual Run for the Rescues 5K FUN RUN—an inspiring community event where every stride supports second chances for horses in need. Held in support of Safe Haven Equine Warriors (SHEW), this race brings together animal lovers, runners, and families to raise awareness and funds for equine rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming.
About SHEW
Safe Haven Equine Warriors is a Maryland-based nonprofit dedicated to the humane treatment of all equines. Their mission is rooted in compassion and expertise, providing rescue, rehabilitation, and lifelong advocacy for horses who have suffered neglect, abuse, or abandonment. SHEW also leads educational outreach to promote responsible horse ownership and equine welfare.

(“Association”), its directors, officers, employees, members, residents and agents, including its Community Manager/Managing Agent, for any claims, liabilities, injuries, damages to my person, direct or indirect, including but not limited to costs and attorney’s fees, arising from, caused by, or the result of my participation in the WFOS 5K Event. I further agree that I am responsible and liable for any and all claims, liabilities, injuries, and damages to persons or property arising from my misuse, abuse or negligence use of Association property.
